Back to School Again

Come August, it was time to go back to school. One of the first things Aubrey's class did for the year was go on a field trip to the fire station. Here she is with her class and teachers.

And we got to see this cool, old fire truck!

And as a second-year preschooler, Aubrey transitioned from going two days a week to three, which meant more time snuggling with this boy. No complaints here!

It also meant more time at the library, since Carter enjoys it more than Aubrey. For awhile, his favorite thing to do there was play with the barn and its animals. Oh man, it was so cute. He did funny voices and pretended to put them to sleep and then wake them up. Loooove. Anyway.

One day, after dropping Aubrey off, we discovered that the new Festival Park was open, and it had a splash pad! So even though Carter was dressed in his clothes, we had to stop and play.

My personal favorite is that he kept calling it a "splash iPad." Hehe.

Sometimes the time we spent together while Aubrey was at school wasn't quite so exciting. There were lots of trips to Walmart to get errands done. Still, we found a way to make it fun sometimes.

On one of our errand trips, I got Carter some slippers. He loved Aubrey's slippers and put them on all the time, so I got him his own. He chose Moana ones. And then I got this video of him wearing them. (Unfortunately, this was the time period when my phone was crapping out and the sound would cut out at the end of all my videos.)

When Aubrey got home from school each day, and on the days she didn't go to school at all, Carter enjoyed having her around to play with.

They went through a pirates stage that I kind of loved...

And, of course, playing in the laundry basket was (and still is) a favorite game. I love their laughing!

Anyway, the last summery thing we did after school started was the Touch a Truck event here in Castle Rock. We had to wait in lines to see the coolest trucks, and Aubrey decided to wait in style.

First we saw the fire truck.

Then Aubrey got to use a special controller to maneuver a crane. Daddy held her hair out of the way for her, haha.

Carter had the chance, too, but he decided playing in the dirt was more fun. To each his own!

The plow for the snow plow (at least I think it was a snow plow) made a nice little tunnel to play in...

... as did the shovel for the digger truck.

Both kids also got the chance to sit in the driver's seat.

There were so many trucks, I honestly don't even know what some of them were. But the kids loved them all!

There was also a school bus, which is one of Carter's favorite vehicles. So of course we had to take a tour of it!

And finally, here are some silly photos of me and Aubrey that we took at some point. We're cool.
