Apple Picking: Take 2

Daniel had Wednesday off for Yom Kippur, so we decided to go apple picking again in hopes of having a better experience. And we did! I've been told the apples are much better, and this place was actually much closer, too. Win-win.

Aubrey had a lot of fun running around and hiding in the trees. I couldn't decide which of these two pictures was the cutest...

And she did help pick some apples. She got a few good ones!

I tried to get some Mommy-daughter shots with her too, but she was having none of it.

See, here she is trying to get away from me.

At least her daddy cooperated for a photo with me... kind of.

The car, however, did not cooperate. We got a flat tire on the freeway and had to pull off on a random exit to change it. Good thing Daniel is handy and Aubrey was happy!

Annoyingly, actually, the flat tire happened because Aubrey fell asleep, and we pulled over on the freeway so I could safely climb back and keep her awake to enable her to nap well in the afternoon. Unfortunately, there was something in the breakdown lane that punctured our wheel. *Sigh* The things we do for our kids...

But hey, we have applesauce to last us a year now!

Farm Fun

Before Daniel started school again, we took advantage of one last day off to go to a farm just a bit north of Worcester. There were lots of fun things to do, like playing with big sticks...

...and picking apples and peaches. They ended up being not-so-great, but Aubrey still ate and enjoyed them. She doesn't know any better.

The best part of the farm was the animals. They had a little piglet, some sheep, and lots of goats. A family standing near us had bought food to feed the animals, and they kindly offered some to Aubrey (to feed to the animals, not to eat herself... obviously).

She loved feeding them so much that we went and bought a bag of our own. And even after one of the goats got overly excited and kind of nipped her (which, of course, scared her), she had a blast. She kept saying "Mmmm" after each bite. She even tried to feed Daddy...

But we opted to eat apple cider donuts instead. Oh man, delicious. I tried my hand at a family eating selfie, but I apparently looked pathetic...

...because a woman offered to take the photo for me. If only I had know that Daniel was no longer going for the mid-eating shot. Oh well.

Yay for New England in the Fall!

Goodbye, Summer

It's the first day of Fall! This makes me really happy. We were definitely ready for summer to be over, but we did have lots of good times!

In addition to our California trip, we spent some quality time in our own stomping ground. We cooled off in the water...

...and took lots of trips to the playground. Aubrey finally figured out that slides are fun, though she likes to take her time.

Sometimes we opted to just play in the yard. Aubrey likes picking flowers off of our hydrangea bush, but she isn't a fan of having the flowers put behind her ear, apparently. She wouldn't even leave them long enough for a photo. Here she is taking them out.

Whenever we went inside to escape the heat, Aubrey took the opportunity to destroy the house learn about gravity.

She also worked on her cooking skills (but apparently ignored her fashion sense)...

...and her high-fiving skills.

We also took the opportunity to read and expand our minds.

Once Daniel was done with work, we took advantage of some Free Friday events in the Boston area, including the Franklin Park Zoo. Aubrey loved the monkeys.

We also got to go to Plimoth Plantation. It's such a cool place!

Before we left, Aubrey and I had to get a photo in front of the "Mooflower." Hehe.

And, finally, Aubrey graduated from her infant car seat to to a convertible one. She needs to stop growing!

Anyway, now we can enjoy cool weather, comfort foods (Soup! Hot chocolate!), and--best of all--Fall leaves! Yay.
